So, I wont be playing much ET anymore cus my stupid mom made me remove it and said that I can't play it untill I'm 18 or so , cus he thinks violent games will make my brain break and I would start shotoing in school , cus in Finland there has been alrdy 2 school shootings where the shooters has killed alot of ppl and theirselves :s So, hope i can play sometimes but can't play mostly of my time ;<

Ohw, my mother has said that for years. Once in a while she still states that she doesnt like me playing violent games... Funny thing about it now is that I have the right to ignore whatever she's saying

Research has stated that violent games do affect behaviour.
What the research leaves out though, that it depends on the person who's playing it.

I'd say, respect your mothers wishes for the next three weeks and try again.

Ahhrm, First since i faced this situation my self maybe a few pointers Hurm:


1) Attempt to find a alternate game for the time being like, Puzzle Pirates or Elmo's Alphabet soup (sorry couldn't help my self) this strategy will take some time but worked great for me.

2) First thing first before she goes mad with Anti-gamer sentiment try writing a letter a long descriptive intelligent one explaining that these games are stress and Aggression relievers and KEEP you from doing the things she thinks its causing, Use stats in your favor, they may be hard to find.

3) Don't show improvement in anything shes worried about, depending on her reaction:

3a if she thinks your stupid now stop before she takes you to happy land =]

3b this, coupled with everything else dents her willpower, keep on trucking!

4) Show her the good intellectual part of these forums, show he we aren't Angry serial Killers enjoying some Geek-time, show her we are geek-freaks!

5) Get that model neighborhood kid she loves to compare you to (Why cant you be more like the Johnson boy???) and see if he plays a video game if he does USE IT! if he doesn't and its your last ditch effort use him anyway and hope she doesn't ask around.

6) Show her your intelligent, moral , and can define the difference between the Real world and the virtual world we all love to kill in.

using this method in either months , or years (like me =[ ) you should be fraggin Me, and your {AR} buddies, if not, keep chillin with us on de forums.

I won't give you any advise since your parents are your "boss"
they also allow or deny you from going out, from drinking alcohol, from smoking cigarettes, from eating fastfood,....

altough some of their rules seem to be too hard or too severe,you just have to face with them (or as a real teenager work yourself around it )
your parents are trying to give certain values to you, just as you will do later to your children. If you show them you are mature enough and respect their values and know how to handle them they will let you go more free and let you play certain games;, drink alcohol, go out to clubs, get a tattoo,....

Family or friends of the people who actually had to go trough this will find your post very hard and not funny.
The things you described happened in Belgium, US, Finland, Germany,....

I hope it will never ever occur to someone close to me, not these kind of events, not any other kind of events that happen in the world. Although you can laugh with it in your circle of friends (sick humor ) , I think with a worldspread community like ours their is always a change that there are people who actually have to go trough these kind of painfull times.
