cant play ET anymore. need help D:

well i have this brown lines flashing all over my ET screen at any settings.

this also happens on return to castle wolfenstien so not just enemy territory.

ill try to take a video of it soon. and games work fine

anyone know anything about this?

Are you sure your graphics card isn't overheating?

Is it a laptop or a desktop you're using?

When did you try to remove dust from inside the last time?

well my computer is always open(the side cover as im always replacing parts) so dust is never there.

as i said other games work perfectly fine adn there from 2009. im always overclocking but if other games work fine that cant be the reason.

and its a desktop.

One other possible reason (although unlikely) could be wrongly set game resolution - some displays don't like being asked to display bigger screen than they can handle. Like I said, unlikely but possible.

Graphics drivers are another obvious thing to check.

well i can assuame its my grpahic driver safley.

i had the latest 186. but that driver forces scaling and i have black lines when not in my native 16:10 res

the same thing happens in 185 drivers

this is a bug in those 2 so i am forced to use 182 drivers if i want to play games like ET in full screen with no black bars.

so i might have to wait for a new driver update because i am really tired of black bars around all my games.

Guru3d linky Here is a site that I use for my vid drivers. They have many Beta and WHQL drivers so I am hoping they will have something to fix your problem.

Well if resolution's aspect ratio is the problem, that shouldn't be an issue - with a little effort, you can force ET to use about any resolution you want (there might be a limit on max. resolution but for sure you can force it to draw any aspect ratio) : link

ok thanks. i tryed doing that but couldnt find the right file.

apperntly i had to make it (wonder why it wasnt there in the 1st place)

i guess i gotta go back to the new buggy drivers to play tho. really hope nvidia fixes this soon.

As the post says, "if you can't find autoexec.cfg, create it"

It's not there by default. Maybe they wanted to prevent the people that don't know what they're doing from doing something they didn't want to do?

also i did it. now that High quality mod that i got from this forum turned off.

any solution?

Not sure. I have no idea how that mod is done.
