| Hi guys. As some of you know, one of my assignments this semester is to program a 3D engine. (bunch of coordinats, eyepoint + viewpoint and draw what should be on the screen.) The idea is fun of course, though its absolutely unusefull as we write it in some academic language. Anyway, I will post some screenies of my results. Currently I'm still working on the lighting but that should get fixed... I hope. ps presentation is tuesday, I hope I can get some parts fixed by then. heh My best working visualisation currently is raycasting, technique that was used in wolfenstein 3D back in the early days. This is a circle of station models and some trains (crappy models though ) moving between them. Rendered with Z-buffer (still suffers from a bug, I know what it is doing wrong but I don't know a fix.) | |

| What I'm making is actually what the Q3 engine does for you in ET. It means you define a complete world with models, verteces, ... in 3D coordinats (x,y,z). Then, according to where your head is and where you are looking at (where your crosshair is) it will draw what you should see (loads of transformations to turn into 2D screen planes), with loads of extra techniques to make your image more realistic. Here's some of the lighting progress: | |

| Basicaly what you are doing is creating the illusion of a 3d spectrum while its only 2d, right?
Would mean creating a certain point to which people would look at to get that 3d feeling, depending on which side you are looking the computer has to calculate to get the right point for you to look at so you get a 3d sense of view.
Am i kind of close there? | |

| Correct triassic afterwards you need techniques to remove things you can't see (hidden by other objects or just because they are on the backside of an object), and techniques to color the objects. (in ET theres no coloring but texturing) | |
